Bruges

Since Kathy had to work some of the days we were visiting, Melissa and I spent a few days on our own.  One of those was a day trip to Bruges.  Again, we had beautiful weather, and a perfect day.  Bruges, like Amsterdam, is filled with canals.  You definitely want to take one of the canal tours.  All of the locations where you can start a tour cost the same, so don't bother scouting them out, just pick the closest one and go.

We very much enjoyed Bruges.  We did not spend any time in museums which you really should do when visiting as Bruges was a center of culture for a very long time.  There are also a number of churches that are worth visiting.  Apart from that we spent a bit of time eating and drinking including stopping in one of the squares for some coffee first thing when we got there.  We also had a great snack in the afternoon - the picture of Melissa's apple pie is included.  There are also a huge number of chocolate shops in the town.
