Les Invalides

Started by King Louis XIV as a place for veterans to live and get medical attention, Les Invalides still houses some veterans, a medical ceinter as well as a military museum and is the resting place for a number of famous French including Napolean.

We visited twice.  The first time it was, unfortunately, closed.  However, we were able to walk around the main courtyard.  The second time, Melissa and I were alone (Kathy had gone back to Brussels) and were able to get into Eglise Saint-Louis des Invalides - the first chapel (later a private chapel was built).  In the center of the chapel is Napoleon's tomb.

While we didn't enter any of the museums, it was still an interesting visit to both see the chapel (and Napoleon's tomb) and walk around the interior courtyard.
