Windermere We didn't spend much time in the town itself, mostly due to my cold. Melissa spent a small amount of time window shopping while I was sleeping, but apart from that we spent our time in other areas of the Lake District (namely driving in, driving out and Hawkshead). What we did do in Windermere is eat. There were a few restaurants in town that looked good (even with the cold). Our first dinner, while good food, was in a tavern room of a neighboring hotel and it was FILLED with smoke. It may be my imagination but I think it contributed to my cold. Our second night we went to a place called the Lighthouse (If I remember correctly). Other than the large bug we found grilled onto Melissa's chicken, the food was really good - I even thought so in spite of being sick. And yes, they did replace Melissa's chicken (and she found it before eating any of it). We also enjoyed our time at St. Mary's Surgery - the local doctor's office. I wasn't much in the mood for those days, and honestly, the weather didn't really help! |
