Click here for the original, full sized, image: IMG_2861.JPG We didn't know what it was at the time, but the line of people waiting to rub this plaque was intriguing so I took a picture. Turns out that it is a memorial to 'T Serclaes who, in 1356 led the overtaking of Brussels from the Count of Flanders (who was attempting to take control from the Duke of Brabant). Rubbing the statue is supposed to bring good luck. |
