This column sits in the center of Place Vendome. We did not go there, but it is apparently an area of high fashion stores as well as the Ritz Hotel. The column was built by Napoleon to celebrate the victory of Austerlitz. The bronze outside of the column is made of melted down cannons capture during the campaign.
