Sainte Chapelle

Sainte Chapelle was built by King Louis IX to house holy relics including the Crown of Thorns (which is now held at Notre Dame).  The royal chapel is built above a lower chapel that was original used by the palace residents.  About two thirds of the stained glass windows in the royal chapel are original altough, apparently, much of the rest of what you see today is due to a restoration in the mid 1800's.  Regardless, it's one of the most impressive places I've ever seen.  When inside, it's almost as if the whole of the building is stained glass and the roof is just sitting on top.  We highly recommend that you visit if you're in Paris!
