Hawkshead Hawkshead is another small village in the Lake District. Hawkshead was the childhood home of William Wordsworth and is also associated with Beatrix Potter, who lived nearby. The town is a quant little place - apart from the tourism. In a way it felt similar to visiting a place Sturbridge Village here in Massachusetts. It was as if the whole town was a stage, and play was being put on for the tourists. In any case, it was a cute little town, with a number of interesting things to do. These include visiting an early school that Wordsworth attended, the Church of St. Michael and the Beatrix Potter gallery. |
