The London Zoo For us, it wouldn't be a vacation if we didn't visit the local zoo. We went to the zoo on our last day in London. We had already walked most of the way around the city (or so it felt) and we decided to walk through Regeants Park to the Zoo. Then we walked all aroung the zoo; then we walked back to the hotel via Abbey Road (again). It was a LONG day. We had a good time at the zoo even though it was a bit cold and at times it got close to rain. Overall it was a decent zoo. Not particularly large, but it had a number of interesting things. We watched the penguins for a long time, as well as the meerkat's. There was a whole building devoted to biodiversity called B.U.G.S. There was one really cool exhibit there (there is a picture) where a colony of ants was allowed to travel between habitats via ropes that were strung between them. You could, if you wanted to, touch the ants as they travelled. They were open to the air! They would never do that in the States! There was also a large assortment of primates (including the tourists) which Melissa really enjoys watching. We had a good time although every zoo pales in comparison to Animal Kingdom as far as we're concerned. I hate to give Disney credit for Disnifying a zoo, but we really enjoyed it there! |
